Christa's debut CD, Not That Lonely, is now available!

A six song collection of tunes, four of which are written by Russell, has captured a truly unique sound. Instrumentation includes a classical cello, stand up bass, a handmade cajon, and guitar. There are hints of her classical vocal training, but very real evidence of the emotion and the songwriting that landed Russell the 2011 Fort Worth Weekly Female Vocalist of the year nomination.

A fine mix of personality, songs about loss, failure, and loneliness, but ultimately redemeption, accomplishment and finding a path of your own, this EP is the shining example of what DFW.com calls "one of the best voices I've heard in the Funkytown music scene." -DFW.com, 12/6/11

Though formally trained in opera and classical music, Christa Russell has always known that the blues and raw, organic country was in her blood. While living in Key West, Florida, she began writing songs and expressing her passion, entertaining tourists and locals alike. Now back home in Texas, she draws on the influences of Patsy Cline, Eva Cassidy and Linda Ronstadt to capture the hearts and minds of her audience. A self proclaimed “goof” and “generally a hot mess”, spending time with Christa on stage is like spending time with Christa at a table… telling jokes, having a laugh, and sipping whiskey. With her energetic personality, come the lyrics, song writing and vocal passion of woman who has known loss, failures, insecurities and loneliness, but lives to sing about redemption, accomplishment and ultimately finding a path to call your own.

Christa performs with Blue Sky Bandits, a roots & blues band from Fort Worth, Texas. Having contributed to many local artists’ studio projects, recording with Blue Sky Bandits, performing throughout the Fort Worth metroplex, and being nominated in the 2011 Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards for Best Female Vocalist, it’s likely that you will hear her voice in the foundation of the Fort Worth music scene.
